^applause^. beware of paphs. it is the black hole to the most incurable of orchid addictions.

    Good luck on that count....
I could probably volunteer for years and never talk our Paph-head curator out of one of his babies. I've never tried but I know better... lol

Here's hoping Jim is into something else!

You see what paphs will do? Heather already picked up 7, and next month it will be 15, and then 30. Little does she know that soon everything without a slipper will be gone and replaced...

That is 7 *new* ones. Sigh...I already had, what, 3? Wait...:check: yes, I now have a total of...12 paphs and phrags, out of 26 kids (the dend. is due to kick it any day tho, so that is half paph/phrags!) I am a sick, sick woman! Be careful!! And watch out for those species...they're the worst!

Traci, I spent 3 summers working at an orchid nursery repotting Cattleyas, and I got paid in backbulbs. I can't even begin to tell you how much I learned.

How fortunate you are. Congratulations on an incredible opportunity!

LOL , yes, I'll probablt spend 4 hours thinking about what my first paycheck will be. There are literally thousands of different orchids. Not just 20 of the same specieces or hybrids.

I can imagine. Especially since this guy has thousands of different species and hybrids. I'll spend as much time picking out my payment than working lol!

ThAnks Louis, it is a wonderful opportunity and I'm really grateful to get it. I'll probably be the water girl and the potter girl, but I will have the opportunity to get to know more orchids than most people get into a lifetime. I *really* hope he shows me how to flask (I saw some flasking jars growing in the greenhouse.

I guess I will tell you that after repotting every type of orchid it can get tiring. I repotted anout 800 Den kingianum and 800 Pleuro endotrychis as well as hundreds of the same plant over and over and let me tell you I can live my whole life without ever seeing or repotting one of them again. LOL The funnest part of that job is going through the nursery and looking at EVERY plant hidden in every corner.
