Default Blettila striata didn't bloom this year

    Hello everyone

I planted last spring 2 bulbs of Blettila Striata and they bloomed nicely.
This spring however I was afraid I lost the plants to rot. I keep them planted outside, under pear tree. We had a very warm and moist winter (only 2 or 3 weeks of freeze) and a cold spring, and I thought I lost them. At beginning of June, both bulbs shot out new, healthy leaves, but there was no spike. I suspect the combination of too warm winter and cold spring to be the cause of not blooming. I think for the next winter I would dig the bulbs out and sore it in the fridge.
If anyone has experience with this orchids I welcome their advice

Maybe they need to not be under the shade of the pear tree? Maybe a bit more light? Just guessing. I hope someone who grows Bletilla striata will respond.

Beautiful Orchid when in bloom... I found this online:

    cheers,

    Thanks for the answer
First time when bloomed they were under the same tree, but the pear tree did grow larger. So maybe you are right I should move them in a brighter spot.My biggest dilemma is about the dormant period: in our climate they could stay in the ground outside needing some protection if temperatures drop under -5C. In the last year we had mild winters so I don't know should I leave the bulbs outside or take them out and put them in the fridge???
