Congratulations! This post give me some hope and technically answered some of my questions because currently I am trying to save two of my Phals suffering from root rot and one from crown rot by using similar method. Well I guess I have to be very patient because based on you story it took about 2 - 3 years for the Phal to be as good and healthy as the last picture.

Azizan - in my experience, yes, two or three years for one to come back, but they certainly can! I have one I'm considering saving, it had crown rot and has no leaves, but several fat green roots that look perfectly healthy. Sure, why not, 3 years will pass whether or not I take care of that orchid and possibly I'll have some gorgeous flowers from it too!

    Thankyou guys for your comments.
Azizan, it does takes lot of time and patience to save a sick orchid but it's worth it, and the feeling of an achievement to see it come back is great.
    Keep saving them!!!
