It is difficult to see what all is happening in this photo, but if it is working - bravo! Do you have lights set up for them as well?

    cheers,

Dosent look as if there's very much light in the tub grow area. Masdies can actually take a good amount of light, i grow mine with paphs.

its on the western side of the house so it is very bright in there the afternoon sun reflects off the walls but doesnt touch the plants

Western side or not, that wont be enough light. If the plants never have sun (just whats bouncing of the walls) they wont grow well. It may be ok for short term but with out light, even artificial light, these masdies will eventually be weak, soft plants, and new growth will not reach its full potential. Id highly recommend artificial light of some sort if your diehard on the tub as a grow area.
