    Smile dendrobium dockrillia bowmanii

    does anyone know anything about this dendrobium my sister gave me some pieces which as you can see i have mounted they have no roots am i being hopeful they will grow roots
    any info would be helpful thanx

    It would really help the visibility of your images if you would size them to have one side at 700 pixels. I use photobucket.com for that pupose and use the file from there on this website for my sized up/down images.

    I agree with 78Terp about the size, very hard to see from the size of your photo.

    From what I know this is a native orchid to you living in Australia, it is found in Queensland and New South Wales. It needs a drier winter rest but should not be allowed to dry out completely. New growth comes from the top of last years growth. It has also been re-classified as Dockrillia bowmanii.

    Much better picture. Still not sure about the roots. I found this link; Dockrillia bowmanii - Straggly Pencil Orchid you should check out, it looks like the roots are certainly different then what most of us think of what roots look like, it might be that the root is the lower part below the green leaves from the second picture shown on the link. Your plant looks as healthy as the ones pictured in the article, so best of luck!
