This is a discussion on my first cattleya orchid sheath within the General Orchid Culture forums, part of the Orchid Culture category; this is the first cattleya flower sheath i have grown but its on a noid ...
this is the first cattleya flower sheath i have grown but its on a noid catt and i have no idea of the colour the flower will be how exciting i bought it knowing this i thought i would take a chance the price was too good to pass up
Show us a pic when it blooms! Congrats!
Pray for white. These are the sweet smellers. Ive noticed darker Catts tend to smell spicy and lighter orchids tend to smell sweet. Of course I am baseing this on the mere three I have at home so I am sure its not exactly true, lol. But when we had them where I work all of the whites were strong and sweet.
It is sooo much fun to buy a no name in sheath. I hope you get a rare gem of a flower...
yep connie i love surprises i figured that it was a cattleya so i couldn't go wrong
well its not a catt i think its a brassia of some kind but it has hard leaves and long suedo bulbs like my other catts and my other brassia verrucosa has soft leaves and egg shaped bulbs the 1 flower shall tell the story when it opens
Good luck with what ever the new arrival will be.-looking forward to seeing the bloom later.
I can't wait to see the flower now...with the shape of the pbulbs...hmm. What a fun mystery!
i think it may be a Brassavola of some kind just through the picks i have seen
