Default Hey there, it's been a while!

I've been very quiet on this forum for a while. I have been checking in from time to time. Orchid life here has been interesting. A couple of months ago, we had a storm come in and topple my mini greenhouse with all of my phals, seedlings and smaller dends. I spent several hours repotting them all. Most have come through quite well, but most are NOIDs now.

I was not prepared at all for winter. LOL, I feel so bad for my plants, especially my Vandas as they are hanging from my curtain rods and are not getting the heat and humidity they appreciate. Non have died, one actually bloomed - although it was a bit stunted. I take them outside when we have warmer, sunny days and make sure they get a good soaking and some bright light. If they can just hang in there another month, our temps will be up again and soon I will be complaining about the heat - lol.

I do have a Pot. Love Passion Island Romance that has 13 buds on it! They are on the smallish size, but it is amazing that without ideal conditions, it has put on 13 buds! I'll post pictures when a few open up.

Anyway, I just wanted to stop in and say hi.

    Thanks Bruce.

Totally my fault. I can't believe I didn't have a better plan for winter. And, amazing how many orchids I have accumulated since April. Honestly, my house would be perfect if we had not installed the 90% solar screens that block a lot of sun. Hubby is not agreeing to remove them in winter.

So, my daughter graduates high school this year and is off to college. My husband and I are looking at new houses. Two priorities - large one story and room, good exposure for a green house. LOL!

Yep. I think about the next season as the current season gets under way. In fact, I bought a new plant stand hoping the it will be perfect for my outdoor summer orchids to live on. Already purchased and in place on the deck, with 3 empty pots sitting on it, ready for the change!

Glad the orchids survived after their unexpected tumble. I sometimes feel that they need a bit of an upset to get them growing again.

I am successful growing outside, it's when it gets too cold outside for them that I have a problem. I have been so tempted to buy a few, but then I remember how much work it is bringing them in and out and watering them all inside. The good news is, no one is getting over watered!

Seriously, I do need a better plan for winter. So, I will be working on that this summer. Maybe the thought of having to take care of them in the winter will help me slow down on my purchases. ..... HA, ok, that was funny.

    Hope you are doing well.

The new house sounds exciting especially since you can now buy with orchids in mind!

I am doing well. I have slowed my orchid buying to a crawl. I have even given some away (duplicates and I'll be sending keikis to Bruce as soon as the weather breaks, he thinks 2 types but I may surprise him with a few extras.) in hopes of reducing my watering time a bit.

Up to this week, we in Denver, have had a very easy winter. Maybe 3 days of winter at a time, 3 or 4 times from October to last Saturday. My daffodils are crowning. Then came the snow on Saturday, Sunday and coming this Wednesday and Thursday. But being Denver, we are supposed to be 55 F Tuesday, in between the storms.
