Is same subject I was also searching. I recently got about 10 varieties of heat tolerant cymbidiums and have potted them in dried horse-dung and charcoal. Some swear by this medium and I have potted them about 2 weeks back and they are looking alright.

I purchased cow manure. I am guessing it would be equivalent. So how are you watering the plants in this kind of mix?

I hope it isn't 'fresh'. I think you want to use 'well rotted' or dried.

Yes, I think that would be properly aged.

I am told to water them throughly every day and hence I am having them outdoors and hose them daily. I had potted the cymbidium bulbs directly on the dung and top dressed them with charcoal.

I'm trying to decide wether to use a pre-made cymbidium mix purchased by a retailer or make my own mix using cow manure and large perlite and maybe add peat.
