    Default Phal with identity issues

My new little Phal is confused I believe. I bought her in bud and now she's in full bloom and lovely, but I swear I can see a leaf coming out of her stem?!? What is this guys? is this normal? am i growing an audrey II? should i cut it off? what will happen when the blooms fall and I cut the stem to get it to rebloom? where should i cut? have a look and see if you see what i see.

It's hard to tell from those pictures, but it looks like it may be sending out a side branch. It could also be a keiki, but doesn't look quite right to me. I'd wait a couple weeks and see what develops..

All of Diane's thoughts are possible. I'm wondering if it's just a bract that grew out a bit funky.

    Default leaf on spike

I saw a plant like that at boxstore, had leaf coming out of spike...wierd I'm no help since I'm new to orchids (1 year) but I'd like to find out what it is.

I also vote for a funky bract!

It may have been confused when it was sending up the flower spike and maybe when it was at the stage where the curious looking 'leaf' is at, there may have been a change in temp, or light or something it for a moment, it started to initiate a keiki but the change may have corrected itself and the spike kept growing to become a flower spike...

of course, if you mean the yellowish 'thing' further up... then that would be too early to tell in this picture

Just the bract at the node growing a bit larger than usual so it resembles a small leaf. Totally normal, pretty common even. It has no effect whatsoever on the plant or how you treat it from here on. Relax people.
