    Default Vanda grow area

Too many Vandas to list by name, but I wanted to share my technique of vanda culture. Rather than hanging the baskets I stuck them on metal rods. They are mobile and are in the garden area of my gazebo

WOW nice setup! Do you have any shade cloth on the top? That is one big Phalaenopsis is it all one plant or several mounted together?

Hi Jack no shade cloth. As the sun travels there is always partial shade as it goes over the gazebo. My backyard faces east. The pals are just a bunch of box store plants I threw together for instant color. It looks really cool sitting under them it's like a giant umbrella

Thank you Kitty I love the backyard watching the boats go by and my orchids. It's very peaceful

Nice grow area. Your plants seem to like it too.

Beautiful. Would be a great place to enjoy a cup,of coffee. Your vandas look so nice and healthy. How do you keep the plants so healthy looking? Mine tend to get a brown spot here and there and then I have to be careful with how much sun I have them in because they get sunburned.

Hi Sheryl thank you! Sprinklers do most of the work I don't mess with them. However, one of my Roberts Deligt (purple in the pic) was in the wrong location and neglected. It's blooming now but it's showing signs of neglect so not everything is perfect. I do spray regularly with Physan or copper for fungus and rot. WARNING never spray dendrobiums with copper. I had some major leaf damage with copper

Best thing I ever did was put an irrigation system in, put in timers and I don't have to worry about it.

This is absolutely beautiful!! You've obviously had all of these for some time. Do you have more than one vanda on each metal rod? Also, approximately how many phals are on that palm? Feel free to let me know if you ever want to come to Miami to help me organize my grow area.
