    Default Help with ID

Hi! I need help with the genus ID of this orchid please.

I received it as a gift. It's a single pseudobulb. I don't know if the orchid is going to survive since I've read that cuttings need at least 3 pseudobulbs, but the roots looks good (they turn green when watering) and there's a new growth coming out.

Looks like some Oncidium genera. Would be better to tag once in bloom

I'd agree with Sriram on the ID. Nice mounting job!

I agree it appears to be an Oncid relative of some kind, and anything more specific than that will have to wait for a flower.

Assuming good care there should be no concern about survival. With healthy roots and a new growth in progress it isn't in danger. The precaution of making divisions no smaller than 3 pseudobulbs is more about the new plant being able to flower in season than about survival.

Thanks! I'll report the progress of this orchid and hoping it blooms some day to finally know which type of oncidium it is.

Hello! The new growth started to produce roots. I'm watering it everyday (verifying the roots are completely dry) and using a balanced fertilizer once a week.

Hello! An update for this orchid.

This is how it looks now:

This seems to be a new growth in development:

And this is starting to grow in the latest pseudobulb. A flower spike? I guess it's too early to tell.

Probably a new pseudobulb but since we still don't know for sure what the plant is can't say for sure.
