    Default Oncidium Twinkle mount

I wanted to share my first orchid mount. It's Oncidium Twinkle 'Jasmine' and mounted on a cork.

Both plants were growing separately in the same pot since I bought them. I call them Bonnie and Clyde.

Looks good! However IMO, it could use more sphag on top of the roots too. Otherwise it will be too dry or you will be watering it all the time.

I recently (last 4 months) mounted 2 that were in pots and struggling. One (pictured below) has taken off and has 7 new growths on it. The other looks like it is turning around and has a couple new growths that appear to be clear of disease.

Actually at first I put some sphagnum on the top as well but then I thought maybe it's too much moss and it will keep the roots too wet and I removed it from the top.
Thanks, good to know! I'll put it back.

I water the Twinkles once a day as I have them set up.

78Terp, very very lovely colony of Twinkles! Hope mine will be like this one day. Have them flourished yet?
Btw your sphagnum is green, why is that so? I've never seen green sphag here just this yellowish straw color (like my when dry).

Yours looks nice! It should love the mount.

Mine sits at the edge of an area I have lit with 8 tube, 4 foot long T5 fixture. It is algae that has grown on the sphag. I can spray Physan on it to retard its growth.

Aaah it is algae! I thought one of those green mosses you can find in the reptile store. I've heard they have live sphag too! I just never went there, with my environment it would die anyway and is not worth to pay double price for a live one. But I must admit the green looks so nice and natural indeed. 👍
