    Cool My New Phal Re-potted!

For the benefit of the newbies, here are the steps I took:

    1. Removed Orchid from pot and flushed the medium out:

    3. Cut out most of the dead stuff .. Healthy roots? Yay!

Re-potted in a mesh pot, with gravel below and Spaghnum moss
Note: Do not pack the spaghnum moss, leave it loose!

Now, crossing fingers and hope it works! We'll see in a few weeks.

Please feel free to comment and make any other suggestions. This is just my way .. like the song!

Looks good to me. Only observation is that this medium its final form or would it be changed?. From what I know, orchids grow roots to suit the medium and would rot and grow new roots if you change the medium later.

I think that you always have to change the medium eventually.... let it get healthy with good roots and a sound top, then it will handle the stress and be alright.

WHEN (See how positive I are?) it gets new roots and leaves, I will put the entire thing in an 8" Clay pot. I like the looks of clay pots moe betta (as they say in Hawaii). But I will leave it planted in the Sphagnum Moss, monitor it, and change it as required.

Seems like Phals do better in meshed pots, and if I place the entire thing into a clay pot, it will have better air circulation.

    We'll see what happens. LOL
