    Default Peristeria pendula woes.

I have the above plant and have it growing under humid, warm not hot, and mosly shaded light conditions. It was growing and now some of the new growths are rotting. What am I doing wrong?Name: Penderistia pendula - 1.jpg
Views: 154
Size: 80.4 KB I have reduced watering which I did not do much anyway. My main question is how much light should I give it.

It appears that the newest growth is turning toward a light source so I would guess it needs more.

Looks like crown rot probably caused by water caught in between the new leaves. I have had this happen on a few occasions on Gongora, Coryanthes and a Lycaste hybrid. Best to avoid wetting the new shoots when watering or to have a fan dry the leaves after watering. And to place it in a position where no water (especially from other plants) drips from above.

Concur with Li. looks like a bacterial rot to me. Treat it immediately. You could use hydrogen peroxide or a bactericide and dont water the foliage. keep the fan going.

I agree with my predecessors, requires moderate light, high relative humidity and good ventilation, the flowers are fragrant, I recommend removing the affected part and disinfect with an anti bacterial, regularly deal with a cupric product.
