Default Seeking 2nd Opinions on Den. growths

    To all,

I post an earlier thread asking whether the 2 growths on my Den. were spikes or keikis.

Everyone who replied said they were keikis. Diappointed, I didn't really pay any attention to it for the next couple of weeks. Looked at it again a few days ago and this is what I see.

Again, this is my very 2nd Den. that I haven't killed and it's 1st Den. that I got to grow anything.

They look like buds to me but I need a confirmation.

    Thanks,
    Trung

You've definately got a couple of nice spikes going. Can't wait to see the pics when they open.

Congrats on spikes! I haven't gotten any Dends to rebloom, not that I've had many, so didn't know the difference on the early stages...

Thanks for the great news. I've been trying to post a picture of the bloom from this plant for a long time in hoping that someone can ID it so I can tag the plant with its proper name.

But no matter how small I get the file to be, it'd still exceed the 700 X 700 requirement.

For those who replied, I will send some pics to your email later tonight. If you recognize the name of this hybrid, please let me know. The colors are unreal. It's a semi antelope-type bloom with deep & bright burgundy red petals, a yellowish green accent around the border of the petals and in the middle of the bloom, and finally, with a fuscia lip.

It's definitely a surprise for me when it just went out of bloom about 3 months ago.

Today has been fantastic. My plants at home are spiking, work is just plain fun, and my batch of cattleyas (all in buds and shealths) will finally arrived tomorrow... thus begin my new adventure.

And to top it off with a CHERRY ON TOP, I have located and reserved a great big mature BS C. Dowiana var aurea. in a 5 in. pot for a price unheard of. My old grower friend even offered to get the plant to spike, and then sending it to me. How cool is that ?

Someone please smack me so to get this stupid grin off my face. I've been wearing it all day and it's cramping up.

Great warm wishes to you all,
    Trung

Default A Percfect Ending to cap a Perfect Day

An hour after I got home from work, I found a package at the door. And behold, the orchid gods must be smiling on me today...

Look at the Appleblossom on the left next to the 2 litter bottle. For an addition $5, the pot size went from 4' to a 6' in. monster.

Next year, it will be interesting to see who's dead and who's not.

    Have a GREAT week-end,
    Trung

    Trung,

Those are HUGE plants! (And healthy!) No itty bitty seedlings among them!

Congrats! Don't do anything to that grin - don't you dare wipe it off! Wear it proudly until the last bud opens and the final flower drops. That's why we do all this nuttiness, after all!
