    Default REPOTTING DISCUSSIONS

PLEASE DON'T POST A REPLY TO THIS THREAD...

I'm going to start 4 threads about repotting - one for Catts, one for Phals, one for Paphs and Phrags and one for Oncs and Intergenics. (I know, wheres the vandaceous, etc. well we can start more)

The point is, that each of us has our own idea of how to repot our orchids, including when, pre-soak the plant, pre-moisten the media (how long??)how big a pot, how to clean up, media, etc. And most of us have posted hints or tips for new members or each other. Well, some of the stuff others have posted just about made me fall out of my chair

And I am sure lots of the stuff I have posted has done the same to others

So - I'd like to hear from everyone. No judgements, just discussions. Lets agree to disagree and not ridicule anyone's methods. But let's get all these ideas out on the table - so to speak - we can all learn from each others experiences.

Suggestion - be specific as possible - how long do you soak the media---- by type if necessary. If you pre-soak the plant, for how long? How do you treat cut off roots, healthy one and mushy ones? How much bigger should the next pot be, and why? When do you repot? How often? Do you place the plants somewhere different while they recover? Rooting Hormone? Physan? Peroxide? How much??

Come on, lets get some good discussions going!!!

I'd also like to suggest that the thread becomes sticky, so that we don't keep repeating ourselves every timea new member asks the same question (that we've already answered a slew of times.)

    Oh, Diane - easy now...

You're just making this whole thing so much more fun for me by stipulating rules!
