Ya, I'm thinking the same - buy some more orchids to fuss over! This one likes to be neglected a bit like a teenager as long as he doesn't dry out too much between waterings!

    Joan,

For what it's worth, consider how this plant blooms. Some genera throw up showy flower spikes and blooms in several weeks. They last only that long, some merely days.

The Psychopsis are like the tortoise: slow and steady is their way. They won't overwhelm you with their impatience. But that's because they have staying power. And staying power requires a slow and steady approach to creating a flower. They take their time, but in doing so, the minimal drain on the plant allows them to maintain the bloom for ages.

With all the newbies on board (and winter in the north hemisphere), it may be time to bump this thread.
I'm very interested in indoor/outdoor growers showing how you grow in winter; this is my first winter. Just brought the babies indoors for the chill. Every post has given me ideas so far.
C'mon! Show us your growing areas!

I loved seeing everyone else's growing space. Since we are resurrecting this thread, here are a couple photos of mine. The first was a about a year ago. Usually the shelf is up by the window, but I wanted a shot of all the orchids in bloom together. The others I snapped quickly this evening (so the lighting isn't great.) As you can see, it is getting a little crowded--and even the big guys are running out of room. They have literally taken over every southfacing window in the house!
