Default Has anybody ever bloomed a Den Spectable?

What are the special requirements, if any, to bloom a den spectable? I have had one for about 5 years now, and still haven't gotten it to bloom. It's a huge plant, so it should bloom. I have looked for info out there on web, and in books, ect. ect... And yet I can't seem to find info on what conditions it needs to bring it to bloom. Any thoughts?

Yes, I live in Rotonda. I was in another forum for a few days. I found this one, and haven't gone back. Pebble Beach? Fl or Cal?

Please, someone correct me if I am wrong, but I believe this is one of those dends that must get a winter rest from water and fertilizer. You should only water it after it starts its new growth. The rest of the year it needs fairly high humidity and bright light. Most probably you just need to give it more light to get it to bloom.

    Hope that helps some.

    Cheers!

I have been growing it just like my nobiles, but with no results. I get my nobiles to bloom just fine. I don't know? I have a friend who has had the same problems with his spectable. Maybe this year! Thanks BD
My fiance, and I are currently in a condo off of Boundary while our house gets finished. We bought some property in North Port a few years ago, and haven't really done anything with it until the past year. We were living in Kissimmee for a year, and then came back down here. First we built our greenhouse/screenhouse on our property, and now we are just waiting for our house to get done. It is taking FOREVER! But it looks like we can be in there at the end of Sept. (We Hope)

In by Sept. isn't much longer - you must be psyched!

Have you tried the 'fertilize the crap out of it' approach? That was recently suggested to me for my healthy Dend. amethystoglossum that refuses to bloom.

I can't wait! They have already put off for two months!
I'll have to try that. I feed once a week, but I guess I can step it up. I don't really have much more time to feed heavily before I have to start backing off on my dends
