    The type of box doesn't matter. Choose a box that will fit your orchids and all those peanuts. Bruce was suggesting the USPS flat rate boxes, because they might save you a little money.

    Be sure to clearly label the boxes with some variation on: LIVE PLANTS and
    AVOID EXTREME COLD AND HEAT

    The handlers may ignore it, but it never hurts!

    Redlands - between LA and Palm Springs. It's considered the edge of the high desert. Hot and Dry (Rainfall wise), rarely gets frost, but it can happen. Medium humidity. Nearest orchid nurseries are in San Bernadino which is quite close and a few others closer to LA. (Nickname for San Bernadino is San Berdoo) Fast growing area right on interstate 10 which is THE route to Palm Springs. Close to interstate 15 which is THE route to Las Vegas. Heavy and light industrial base. High mix of ethnic backgrounds. Medium crime rate for city in that area. Considered very cheap housing for california standards...

    Yep, just mail them priority After watering and packing each in newspapers and peanuts.

    water them. wrap them in newspapers. Pack in stryofoam peanuts, Send priority mail and forget it.
