I was so surprised yesterday. I was looking over my plants and my Odontocidum Tiger Crow x Golden Girls threw a third spike. I don't think it has done this since I bought it five + years ago. This is the one that is my avitar, I was so happy. Conditions must be good this year.

I think discovering the spike or sheath is even more exciting than the flower opening, because it's so unexpected. You're looking at something you've looked at hundreds of times and then it registers that something's different. And they you have that OH MY GOD! moment when you realize you've somehow managed to get it right and your plant doesn't hate you after all.

Congrats other Julie! I look forward to your pictures of the blooms!

McJulie, I just love discription of the OH MY GOD saying and that your plant doesn't hate you. LOL That's kind of the way I feel most the time!!!
