There is no Paph. Mad Max. Don't know what this guy's parentage is, but it's a looker!

That sure is an interesting complex Paph.!

I think I can see some Paph. venustum, Paph. tonsum, and Paph. villosum in this cross, but it is REALLY hard to tell... =)

Thanks guys, I bidded on the plant when I saw the picture, I didn't even look at the name. I'm sure 'mad max' is the clone name of a paph, but which paph vendor used it? Someone must of missed something when recopying the label. So I'm looking for Paph blank 'Mad Max'. I guess it might be too complex and i'll never ID it.

The dorsal is becoming more opened and it is getting ruffled like a paph insigne but the tip remains closed and pointed. The entire inside of the pouch is spotted and the base of the plant is speckled with some purple

There's a possibility that it is sukhakulii x insigne ‘Sanderae’...I know that this cross is done before because it is registered as Tatonka in 1989.

However Cribb's book says that sukhakulii has no pigments on the undersides of the leaves, I don't know about their bases though. Wardii does have pigmentation though, but they are less popular. I assume that insigne var. sanderae has no pigments on its base, but I'm not sure.

The funny thing is that my mom thought it was carnivorous!

nvm I found a botantical painting with insigne var sanderae with purple spotting on it's base just this moment... so the purple base did not come from sukhakulii

Anyone against sukhakulii x insigne ‘Sanderae’?

I didn't realize how much the bloom had changed until I looked at the photographs!
