Default my dumb q of the day

Do you reuse the stakes (wooden or metal) that prop up the inflorescences on your orchids? Or is that too risky because you never know if the orchid has a pest/fungus/virus? Is it better to just dispose of them? I hate to throw them out....so wasteful.

Somebody will probably tell me to soak them in alcohol?

I always reuse them, such a waste to use them once and then throw them away. I rarely use stakes anyway, I like the spikes natural looking.

Cinderella, we don't re-use the wooden or bamboo stakes because of their porosity. But we always reuse the metal ones if we can--*after*, yes, soaking them in sanitizing solution. Alcohol would work.

the wood type stakes are soo inexpensive it is not worth the risk imo. I never reuse my stakes for that reason.

I have only re-used spikes from one plant to the same plant actually. Such as, St. Swithin came w/ stake, repotted, restaked w/ same stake. Bad idea???
