I agree, put the pots in water. paphs won't like going that long without water, and neither will phals. I would even put catts in active growth in enough water to last a week before drying out.

I don't see much of another way .
Could buy submersable pumps the tiny ones for each tray set them in containers of water just enough to use in the tray attatch aquarium tubing or oxygen tubing , hook to a timer that would turn them on after a week the programable ones that could be set to turn the pump off too , would take some expermenting with amounts of water, time to leave running ect.
I did see a plant sitting set up in a catalog .

Good bennies, and salary? Diane...will you marry me? I'll lick the catbox clean...how's that for pet care!

Sorry, guys...it's been a few years shy, while I've written the book.

Gin - you're just downright scary at times!

I'm glad we don't all meltdown at the same time. That wouldn't be pretty! In the meantime, Diane Thumb, your plants will be okay. More importantly, you will be okay.

I'm probably more aptly described as a Nor'easter...

One of my college professors likened me to a natural disater: fascinating to watch, but he worried he might get hurt if he got too close!

WHoooo!!!! Too funny!!!!. Careful, Nor'easter McFriend, Diane may not marry you but she might hire you! After writing a book are you sure you want to be endebted to anyone else other than your kitty kids and Or' chids??? There is more than one bass to fry in the pond heehee.
Seriously, Diane thumb, do the best you can and don't sweat the rest. As someone once said, "Don't sweat the petty things and don't pet the sweaty things." Words to live by. Have a safe trip.

Diane- I was just curious as to what you decided to do for your orchids while you were away and how they looked when you got back. Did everything turn out ok?
