Default So How about Mini Catts?

Mini Catts have always been a favorite of mine. I find that they do well in s/h. I make sure the pots are completely dry before watering again. I lost one of my favorites: Lc. Mini Purple corulea 'Blue Hawaii'. I has the most beautiful dark blue lip with light blue petals. The fragrance is outstanding - the flowers are rather large compared to the size of the plant and it blooms twice a year under the lights. Could anything be better?! Do any of you folks know where I might get one? Ed

I have a couple of mini catts. I like them but they have yet to bloom for me, but all are blooming size and putting out new growths. I am really looking forward to my C. aurantiaca 'kumquat' to bloom. I love that species (its was my first species!) I don't know about a source for yours, but it sounds lovely!

    Default Mini Catts

Hi Heather, Yes its a great little plant. Make sure that your mini catts get enogh light. They don't need as much as the standards but they do need good light in order to bloom. If I can find the plant I am looking for, I will divide it when it gets big enough and share! Good Growing, Ed

Ed, I have that same plant. The flower is incredible and the Hawaiians mass produced it a while back. If you are gonna have any luck, try the Hawaiian nurseries. I'll give you a division if you can't find one.

try going to www.orchidmall.com and browsing through the various vendors. I don't know anyone who has this clone offhand, but I am sure it is widely available and someone on orchidmall must have it.

Hey, Ed, I noticed that a place called Sunset Valley orchids, which I know nothing about, has an Lc. Mini Purple 'coerulea.' I don't know if this is the correct variety but it is worth looking into. Perhaps if they don't have it they know a vendor who carries it.

Good Luck and do let us know as the Mini Purple IS on my wish list too.

I would not say it if I did not mean it, Ed. But I know there are nurseries out there that carry that plant. They are all clones.
