Thanks for the compliments on the avatar....heck no I didn't paint it! LOL I'm good at a lot of things, and I will be the first (of many) to admit that I am quite possibly the world's WORST artist!

Found it on a free avatar/horse web site....and liked it.

I have now decided to be more responsible with providing nutrients for my slippers...
I will now try to fertilize every second watering, but at a weaker concentration. Also I'll use epson salts when a can, but my fertilizer already has Ca and Mg in it.

I also added garden lime to all my paphs. I made a mistake though and added some to my paph maudiaes too! Don't add any to maudiaes because non of the mottled leaved species grow on limestone.

I hope to get some greener leaves too both on a few paphs and phrags. I thought it might have been too much light, but I'm thinking it just might be malnurishment or lack of trace minerals like Ca and Mg.

Some people fertilize their paphs nearly every watering, but they never dry out too much. It's when they dry out that plants get root burn because the concentration increases as the water dried.

I won't water my catts and phals as often though because I don't want to over water them. That means I have to skip a watering when compared to paphs. My paphs are in a open mix that needs to be watered often. I noticed some people have them in more compact mixes and the root system is small, though the top portion of the plant looks nice.

Oh I am so confused sometimes. I completely forgot to water my paphs this weekend, because I am trying really hard to water my phals less. Made a consicious decision DO NOT WATER FOR 2 WEEKS - but forgot to add the other necessary mental note - PHALS ONLY.

I think I need an orchid slave so I can enjoy looking at them but not worry about them.

At least they got a good rinse out with RO water last time.
