    Default Epidendrum on Apple

Here are a few pics of a recent purchase. This is a tiny tiny epidendrum that I have mounted on an apple tree knot. It's really quite perfect. You can't see it, but the knot is hollow on the inside. I have moss on the inside of the knot at the bottom - not touching the plant. I soak the knot in water and the moss holds the moisture, hopefully delivering moisture and humidity more readily. The orchid is mounted above the hollow in the bark with a piece of floral wire. The twisty ties are indicative of my inability to quit while I'm ahead. I just couldn't resist. This is my first mount. I seems to be happy. I hope it survives. You know how I love the teeny tiny orchids. The pot next door is a four inch pot - for scale.

Yes, about four inches high, about three and a half across.
