    Default Orchids in Las Vegas

Ok so several of you have asked about how I have my orchids here well here are some pics of my winter quarters for the orchids. On a covered porch with a heater the oil filled kind. I sometimes run the dryer hose in to that area so that it helps with humidity and heating since it's not a heated porch. I do have a grow light fixture in there as well for the shorter days.

Here are the summer quarters out side with a misting system that goes off every few hours on the hottest of days...

    Thanks BD!

    Diane,
Would love to see you when you come and visit... maybe we could tour the Ballagio gardens or something. Possibly find one of the 14 native orchids out in the hills.

Would love to help with designing your grow space. I work in Kitchen Design for one of the big boxes.

Thanks for showing us your growing spaces - it's inspirational.

Although, without a veranda and all that sun, I don't think I will be copying you just yet!

Well designed, Wolf! LOL, I sort of have windowsill sprawl - not much of a plan to it!

I like that misting system- that is really cool! Shows that you have a real dedication to the health of your plants :-) Good growing!!

well can't take credit for that - I remembered visiting a grower in Florida who had a misting system setup but on a massive scale for their areas under shade cloth. Was great.

And this is truly temporary until we get a pergola built along the one edge of the pool to house them a bit more stable.
