As you know the weather in the UK has been rubbish for the last 2 months or so.I moved my plants into the greenhouse in anticipation of hot temps but the reality is day temps struggle to high 60,s & nights to high 40,s low 50,s.The result ! most of my hybrid Phals are in spike , species Phals are still blooming & my Phrags could not care less.Encyclia,s are going gangbusters.Tough love works sometimes.
Mind you my Paphs are not impressed at all.

Same weather here - any tips for those Paphs? Mine has nice new growth, but no sign of a bloom.

I am thinking the near total lack of sunlight may be the problem....

I like that weedwhacker idea...may have to try it on this one Vanda i've got that has been "in spike" for over five months now with no visible growth. That weedwhacker idea may get the idea across! And yes I baby mine too, but when one is so ornery...well....steps must be taken!

Ok, I'm just overcome with curiosity this evening.... what is a weed whacker? I mean I get the general idea that IT KILLS WEEDS but the name suggests it does it in new and interesting ways.... (and then I can get one)

(not for the faint of heart) [EDIT: - I am serious. GRAPHIC Image]
WEED WHACKER (Windows Media File) This is what one could do with a weed whacker. LOL

Think that would scare your orchids into bloom?

    Cheers,
    BD

I think we may need a new link on this one, BD. I get this message:

YIKES!!! Bruce, you should put a stronger warning label on that video!!!

PS - the weedwacker threat does seem to work!!! McJulie's salad shooter device for the indoor 'chids is good too!
