Mine usually last about 2-3 wks. I try to keep the plants hydrated and out of direct sun when they're in bloom.

Thanks, Lynda. My flower lasted a good 2.5 weeks so I guess I was just being greedy in wanting it to last much, much longer

Ok, this is coming from a guy who bloomed his Psychopsis to death, but I seem to remember ours being in bloom for months at a time. Maybe the individual flower only lasts for a few weeks, but it should have another flower ready to go when that one falls.

    Cheers,
    BD

My Psychopsis's first flower is in bloom for the third week now. It looks like new blossoms are forming already. So I'm hoping the new one will be open by the time this one goes.

Yup, I meant the individual flowers, Bruce. We've had this plant for a couple of months now and it's had two flowers in that time but I still wish that they lasted longer. They do get regularly attacked by the cats so that probably doesn't help

It has another spike growing as well and a little ...bump but I'm not sure if that's a new growth or a third spike.

Hope it is a third spike! That would be awesome!

Can you not set up some sort of cat protection system? Could they be moved higher? I can well imagine that those nice dangly flowers look like a heaven sent cat toy to your furballs.

I hope for the same thing Is there any way to tell? I might snap a picture tomorrow actually.

I did try to put it elsewhere but the plant is being awkward with the way the leaves and the spikes stick out in opposite directions so I'm limited to places where I can put it and actually get to admire the flowers.

How about hanging it from the ceiling, just out of cat jump range. It would possibly get really in your way, especially if you hung it from the middle of the room, but you'd certainly get to enjoy the flowers! I'm not being much help am i?
