    Default SUPERthrive

I bought some now I want to use it. Do I add it to the water when I'm doing regular watering, or should I mix it in with fertilizer? How often can I use it? Persistance, I think I read you mentioned it...

Also, where does one purchase Physan? I'm either not looking in the right places, or looking right over it. Is that the name brand or is it the ingedient? Thank you .

Traci, I got my physan through KK orchid supplies in Kittery, ME. It is a brand name, not just an ingredient. I couldn't find it at any of our nurseries near or far!

Can't help ya w/ the superthrive ? Sorry!

    Default Superthrive...

Superthrive is a rooting hormone--nothing more, nothing less. Despite it's corny labeling and claims, I like to use it on my collection.
I include it in my regular feeding schedule at the rate of 1-2 drops per gallon. Many have reported that overusing this product will result in deformed blooms. I have never had deformed blooms, but I don't overdose.

I also use it in my repotting: When I make up a big bucket of soaking water for my CHC mix, I'll include a capful in 4 gallons along with some Protekt.

When I repot my catts, I also use it in a spray bottle and give the rhizome area a squirt or two during that touchy freshly potted period before the roots appear. I water those plants only once a week until roots develop, so the squirt gets the hormone right where I want it without over watering.

    Good luck!

That is exactly what I needed to know! I have a couple of plants that are in serious need of roots on the new growth, so I guess it really helps? I'll have to really be careful when measuring it out, I'll be the one to get deformed flowers lol.

Traci, I use SuperThrive just like Floofy does. I use it on other plants, too, whenever I transplant or they're stressed. And I just got Physan online at CalWest Tropical Supply. CalWest Tropical Supply

What floofy said. She knows her stuff! I don't use it as much and tend to use it on new plants and divisions more often than my regular collection. I use it on the whole GH about once every 3 months. It can be mixed with other ferts.

I've been trying to get a hold of superthrive here in Sweden without much luck.
I did find that they sell it on home growers supply sites :lemmetell in Holland but i haven't ordered it yet.
Mostly because it would mean that i have to have the stuff delivered at my mums place and she would freak getting a package from such a company.
