    Default OK.... Spike or Keiki?

I am fairly new to orchids. I purchased this phal at the local grocery store in bloom this summer. I repotted it soon after I bought it, as the media was fairly decomposed and it didn't have many healthy roots left. It now has 4 new roots starting and another growth that is either a spike or a keiki. It looked like a spike to begin with, but it kind of looks like it is forming a tiny leaf. I wouldn't think it would spike again this soon, but I could be wrong. Thanks for your help!

It's in the right place for a spike, but after looking at the picture, I've got to go with keiki. Interesting.

I have exactly the same growth on one of my phals right now. I was hoping for a spike since it is a big plant and has never bloomed before.

Thanks for your input, folks. I'll probably post a few more pics as the little clone develops more.

Looks like a Keiki to me, but then I have never had one so it's not like I am an expert - congrats to you on your expected baby!

Here's the new baby a couple of weeks later.... It's got a couple of tiny root buds on the back that are just starting. And my Onc. Lanceanum x Odm. Maureen that I got __about a month ago decided to spike. I'm very happy.

Very nice basal keiki you have there , I would not remove it from the mama plant when big enough both will probably bloom Gin
