    Default Question on mountings

Hello to all. Mounted 2 Phals about 4 days ago. Mounted on the bark of shag-bark hickory tree. I used strips of t-shirts. I could not trust myself in using fishline or wire--accidents are called accidents. Any suggestions? Anything for me to be concerned about? I have misting them with rainwater; mist the rocks also for extra humidity.

When I mount orchids on my trees I use cotton kitchen twine. Usually when it rots the roots have taken over. Phals are quick to take hold to bark just mist with diluted liquid fert once in a while and they should do fine.

Hello Gin. Have you went to the orchid show in St.Louis? I think it is in February-every year in the Bontanical Gardens. Here are the pics.

OOOOHHHH My GOOOODNESS!!! I want! I want! WOO HOO. Sorry for the excitment there- kind of lost it. Where did I leave my time machine? lol. That is a beauty. Blooms on orchids are great rewards, but the challenge of producing healthy leaves and roots are my upmost interest. Should I provided warmer conditions since they were mounted to encourage growth?

Mounting phals upside-down is a great way to eliminate the problem of water pooling in the crown.
Most phals will not even try to reorient themselves to point up, but there are those few stubborn ones where you eventually end up with an upright phal after a few seasons.

And even if the plant is mounted upside-down, the spikes always know to point up when they grow.

I think you've got them upside down pallmall...and the one on the left might need to be flipped over as well. Use Gin's pic as a reference of how they should be mounted...
