"Raizan"
Okay -- I honestly have no clue what this guy actually is, so any help would be appreciated.
The tag says "Raizan" and something in chinese characters. It is a little seedling seedling, kind of looks like a mini dendrobium and is definitely deciduous. He was a freebie with an order I placed several months ago. I honestly didn't think it would survive, so I wasn't worried. I didn't throw it away even though it was down to just the canes, just in case. Well as you can see, it is now putting on new leaves etc.
Any idea what "Raizan" is?

It is a dendrobium. Here is a photo of what it will look like when it blooms:

We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors....but they all exist very nicely in the same box. ...Hmmm? .

The chinese charactors: the first one (more complicated one) means thunder, the second one means mountain. I have to rotate my head 90 degree to read them :-). The flowers are beautiful. I guess it means when it blooms, it makes quite an impact!

Thanks guys. So is it Dend. Raizan? I'll make note of the thunder mountain too. That is quite a name for such a little guy.

Dend. Raizan is a cultivar of Dendrobium moniliforme. Raizan probably means 'Thunder Mountain' in Chinese.

Not mine, Tim. It is from a vendor site.
Cheers,

Yeah, no kidding. Good thing I didn't let him die despite the move and a new baby--okay, maybe it is a good thing he's a dendrobium and they like to be neglected in the winter. I'll let you know when he thunders down the mountain someday!
This vendor was great to deal with--great, healthy plants and all sorts of freebie stuff--this little guy, a japanese fan and cookbook. And the plants I purchased are doing really well.
