    Mabuhay!

I have these orchid for quite a long-time now and it has given me flowers at least once a year. (i am so thankful to God!!!). When i bought it the caretaker didn't know the name but i was so attracted to its flower so i decided to buy it. Anyway, it is perched on a tree like most of my orchids are and i am just so happy that it is surviving/thriving.

Anyway, it would be great if someone could give me its name.

    thank you in advance

    GB

Yes that is definitely Den. Gatton Sunray. Did you know that plant is an FCC/RHS awardee? FCC for First Class Certificate, RHS for Royal Horticultural Society (in London).

I have the same plant but it has never bloomed with me yet although it is growing very, very well. In fact it has become really huge. When I first bought mine it was only barely a foot high but now it is 3-4 feet tall! I didn't realize then that this plant grows to be huge - I saw a specimen plant owned by my vendor-friend and it was 5 feet tall and the pseudobulbs were half as thick as my wrist! The flowers are really beuatiful when in bloom and really outstanding!

I am surprised that it is doing well on your indian-mango tree as I know for a fact that mango trees aren't very good mounts for orchids as they tend to be acidic and a haven for a lot of ants and insect pests.
