Was window shopping today and came across this Phal. I was surprised, one, it had not yet bloomed, though it is budding, and two, it was fairly healthy (though a little over-watered). I just couldn't help myself. Can't wait till it blooms

the pot has no drainage at all... should I just.....i don't know....poke some holes in it for now?

Look inside the clay pot for a thin transparent plastic pot with drainage holes. It's likely to be shorter than the clay pot and probably leaves a bit of room in the bottom for drainage if you're careful.

I just picked up a couple phals in this kind of pot and was puzzled at first also. Eventually, I'll repot into semi-hydro and will probably just be careful until then.

I saw this same type of orchid for sale the other day too. It is best to repot now and avoid root problems later. Phals need to be able to drain and get air to their roots.

Cheers,
BD
