    Default New Undescribed Dendrobium specie, Philippine Orchids

    This specie is unknown among to orchid collectors and taxonomists.

    This Dendrobium belongs to subgenus Formosae. The plant is generally short and it has brown hairs on its canes.

    I often identified this as Dendrobium vogelsangii but the photo is not clear. Maybe it is different from others. I'll wait for the next flower of this new Dendrobium specie and will take photos with it.

    Derek, is this plant also from Mindanao island? Take care of it. The flowers look quite big, are there?

    This plant is indigenous to Mindanao but it is an unofficially described. This is very interesting because if this plant would be Dendrobium vogelsangii, there will be another record for this plant found in mountainous regions in Mindanao. If it is a new specie, well it would be new to science.

    @Lanhua
    The flowers of this plant is small, smaller than the Dendrobium sanderae var. Parviflorum and its canes are the same as Dendrobium vogelsangii which has brown hairs. The size of this plant is the similar to Dendrobium dearei.

    Hello guys,

    Check this out... My plant has already in full bloom.
    The plant that I'm trying to identify was not a Dendrobium vogelsangii but a new specie from Mindanao, Philippines. An orchid plant new to science.

    @Jim Cootes
    Hello Jim, will look try to look up this specimen found from our island Mindanao. It's different from what I'm trying to identify as Dendrobium vogelsangii. It's very different.
    Please try to identify if you could and please tell us the information.
    Thanks.

    Here are the attached photos...

    The plant does not have any scent at all.

    The size of the flower is just 2 inches wide.

    Derek, do you have any idea, which Dendr. section it could belong to? You can see habitus and flowers.
