I have one of these cute little guys. I put it into s/h last year after it bloomed and it grows sooooo slowly. I thought something MUST be wrong with it so I took it out and surprise, the roots looked great. I put it into a more squat s/h container thinking that maybe the roots were too dry.

Any suggestions on how to grow this better?

Be careful with squatter pots for s/h as this can cause root rot.Put 1 of my Phal gigantea seedlings in a little pot & within a week most of the roots turned black. It,s in a taller s/h pot now & it seems to be picking up(new leaf starting & i can see a green root advancing on the res).
If it,s got good roots i would look elsewhere for a reson for slow growth.
Light levels would be my first area to look @.
Mind you some Phals do grow slowly Phal gigantea for example.

I put my mini mark into s/h in december and it had a much rougher time adjusting to it then my other phals. It also had more rotted roots compared to the others. When it finally grew a new leave it stayed small so the poor thing was really stressed.
It's now recovered nicely and I have a lot of new root growth.
And last friday I even discovered a spike

I guess what I wanted to say is be patient with it..it might surprize you one of these days
