Default Maxillaria polystachya-How do i grow it?

Righty ho, i am going to be given a small division of a Maxillaria porphyrostele, and i just need some general info-how much light? how much water? winter rest? temp?

NB/ sorry, if you use footcandles as a measurement of light, it means squat to me I have no idea how to measure it anyway.

You sure about the name, Maxillaria polystachya? Couldn't find any information on it besides this thread.

    cheers,

Same here. I can find genera of Maxillaria and genera of Polystachya, but no mix of the two.

    IOSPE says...~Maxillaria polypetala Steud. 1821 - See Maxillaria platypetala Ruiz & Pav.1798

    ~Maxillaria polyphylla Rchb. f. 1863 - See Maxillaria graminifolia (Kunth) Rchb. f. 1863

    One of these perhaps ?

BTW I wonder if anyone else has spotted a taxonomic anomaly ( or so it seems to me) Polystachya forms one sub-tribe of Tribe Vandeaea . Everything else in the tribe is monopodial. Polystachya of course is sympodial. The other three sub-tribes of Vandeae are the Aerides, the Aerangis and the Angraecum sub-tribes ( vanda as such is in the Aerides). This is per Dressler., Makes nonsense to me.All the monopodials surely belong together, and not with any sympodial ?
I'll take it up with Kew when I see anyone and can buttonhole them in a bar somewhere. Any comments anyone - ? ( may save me making a fool of myself ! )

Thanks for that ; my info came from the internet somewhere - possibly Wikipedia, and I did not double check it. If it ws Wikipedia , of course I should have done , since it is known to be not as accurate as one would like.
