In January 2010 it was awarded a second AM of 86 points-up from 80 points. At the second judging (in Toronto) the flowers were 20 cm, 5 cm larger than before. Apparently someone thought it might score 90 points. (The first award was in 1985).
PS: All that being said, see my post at your other thread.

There was once a Portia grown in a big box, maybe 4 feet square, which used to be carried into shows in England by two strong men...but that was a very long time ago.. But I have no doubt that the true grex can be grown into a big plant. I can't actually remember what the flowers looked like though - so I'll be on the look out for your posting when it happens.I wish you every success with it.

Thank you - I actually had never even heard of C. Portia before I posted the photo and faded id tag and other members came to a near-consensus that that was its id. I honestly have no vested interest in it being anything in particular besides healthy and identified correctly at some point. We may be waiting awhile for flowers to help with pinning this down - the spikes are stubbornly growing taller and taller and not focusing on their job of blooming properly. I'm thinking I might just send it, along with my controversial Mahina Yahiro, to Michael Saar to add to his own taxonomical resources and hopefully put an end to this speculation. It's a PLANT, for goodness sake, not a child.
