Default Paph. Why does my paph. bud shrivel up and die?

I bought a paph. (Paph maudiae type (gloriosum ‘Hallelujah’ x Black Currants ‘Dazzler’) x paph wizardry) a couple of years ago in bud. I brought it home and the bud promptly shriveled and died. I chalked it up to the stress of moving. I patiently cared for it and this summer it shot up a nice bud. I changed nothing about its care and then I noticed the bud turning brown and now its starting to shrivel. Arggg!! What am I doing wrong? The plant looks healthy, nice roots and foliage. This is soooo frustrating.

It sort of looks like there is something overall going on with your plant. Several of the lower leaves don't look right. I'm not a major grower of these, perhaps someone that knows more about them will be able to help you out. All I really know is that I can't grow these.

Is it been outside this summer?? has the temperature change too much??? The roots on your plant seems to be exposed, most slippers don't like their roots exposed and always keep them a bit moist, never completely dry.

This morning, I re-potted the orchid. Maybe next summer, I will finally get a bloom. I have it outside but its in a shady area and I've kept it moist. I'll be moving all the orchids inside soon for the winter. I guess I should cut off the bloom spike. This is so disappointing.

Could be the heat. I grow my paphs like this one very near the kool-cell in my greenhouse so they do not get too hot. Glad you repotted. Hopefully next year this orchid will do better for you.

    cheers,
    BD
