I'm fed up with the idiots and the idiotic name changes. I know someone recently mentioned that there is a great deal of politics involved. Need I expound upon my feeling regarding politicians in general? If someone is looking for a way to turn off people in the orchid hobby -- especially new people -- I'd say they found it.
Well the finger has been pointed at a person a Kew with a name starting in C and ending in B with his head firmly planted up his butt, who is hated by most other botanic garden/botanist authorities worldwide.
The whole thing with this genetic testing is not about sorting out the names of plants, its all about status and I have more clout than you in what is named what. No wonder many countries are giving up on naming orchids. Japan and half of Asia have long ago given their own names to genera.
If the RHS doesnt pull its head out, I predict people will give up on them.
I suspect the change from Miltassia to Bratonia may be to clarify that the cross used a Miltonia and not a Miltoniopsis. Not happy with the change either.
With all of the name changes , does anyone wonder if the taxonomists have a partial stake in the label companies?
