    Does anyone have any basic rules regarding Restrepia (elegans in particular) culture? I just got one on Saturday at the annual L&R Orchid fair (sounds great! I know! ), it was a spur of the moment thing.....

    Jordan, like most of the Restrepias, it is not difficult to grow. I grow mine on cork mount, bright shade(~1500FC), good humidity and let it dry out slightly between waterings.
    I grow mine on the cool side but it can take warmer temperature.

    I agree with you. Mine is potted in sphagnum with a saucer under the pot, almost always with a little water in it.
    Elegans is a beautiful species.

    Hey Bruce, thanks! It is more of an orange, but it is borderline. Unfortunatly, the bloom/bud (it wasnt quite open) blasted on me that night i bought it, so now i need to wait lol!
