    Default Cattleya blooms look washed-out

I recently purchased a Potinara Hoku Gem 'sunspots' in bud. When the flower opened it was a wonderful vibrant red and turned to gold as expected. It has recently opened new blooms on a newer growth and they are a sad imitation of the others...very pale and washed-out color. What could be the cause? I did move the plant indoors to my under-lights space while it was in bud. TIA!

It could have something to do with temperature. I find that most plants, but particularly Cattleya orchids, tend to show more vibrant color if the buds develop under cooler, lower light conditions.

My bollopetalum that bloomed earlier this year in vivid colors recently rebloomed much lighter. I am thinking that it could be a difference in light, but I don't know, so I will be happy to hear what folks suggest to you. I've also wondered if it didn't get as cool at night as the first set of blooms.
