Default Question about a Beallara name

I recently received a plant labeled Aliceara Smile Eri which I now believe is Beallara. My problem is that I'm finding several name variations trying to track the plant down using the search engines. I find Bllra. 'Smile Eri', Bllra. Smile Eri, and Bllra Smile 'Eri'. None of these variations produce any results with the International Orchid Register or Orchidwiz. I don't know if the name is incorrect or, perhaps, hasn't been registered. Any ideas?

It is possible that the grex is not yet registered.
I did a google search and got several hits for a Beallara Smile Eri, but no matches on official registries.

I agree, it is probably not registered. I did find this note on another site...so take that for what it is worth:
Bllra. 'Smile Eri' (Bllra. Tahoma Glacier x (Oda. Toroma x Oda. Ingera)

I agree that it must not be registered. That could explain the confusion between a grex name and a clone name. (Without an "official" name, it just gets passed down word of mouth, so to speak. And we all know how reliable that can be.) I noticed that your names for this hybrid technically disagree as well. Regardless, it looks like a keeper from the pictures I've seen.

Beallara have become Aliceara or Schunkeara... due to nomenclatural changes in Oncidium / Miltonia species in past years.

In order to register a name, both parents have to be registered in their own right ; therefore if the one parent is Toroma x Ingera, then that one would have to be registered first . This is why people don't register new names - when they find that they have ti do two registrations, added to which you can't register a name without the consent of the breeder ( well, you can, but you have to do some explaining first). Whilst the fee for registration is not high , I can see that it can be a bit of a hassle for a nursery producing lots of hybrids , so there is the temptation to just put the name on, without registration.
One of my breeder/trade nursery friends told me many years ago that they registered, because it was then easier to write a batch of labels like "Paph Paeony" rather than "Paph Noble x Paph Belisaire" - to take one example. I suppose if you want to write that out 100 times - it would save a lot of effort ! Nowadays of course labels are printed, so you only have to do it once on the computer .
