    Default Bulbophyllum phalaenopsis culture

I purchased a bare root Bulbophyllum phalaenopsis -- last month. It has 5 pseudobulbs, 3 leaves, the longest about 18". I've since mounted it to a modified 8" basket inverted 90 degrees with a thin sandwich of sphagnum moss.

I'm trying to find out it's proper culture, I keep reading differing care instructions. Without adding to the confusion by posting what I've found, could somebody please let me know what temps, moisture, and light levels they prefer? Do they like direct morning and evening sun? I grow outdoors in Tampa Bay, Florida. Fertilizer? Is an osmocote bag a good idea here?

    Thanks

The Bulbo. phalaenopsis needs it to be warm like a vanda, but they like deep shade, good air circulation and high humidity to grow well. I would imagine mounted it will need water every other day or so and fertilizer at a low phalaenopsis type level. Bulbo's in my experience need to be sprayed for fungal infections often and like to be "moist" but not soaked all the time. Hopefully someone who actually has grown one will chime in. The place in St Pete I mentioned to you when we spoke will have much better care information I'm guessing.
    Hope this helps....

Thank You CJ. Of course I saw your reply immediately on my phone, but that is rather difficult for me to reply on.

The largest pseudobulb just started to form a new rhizome. One leaf is quite red, and I just noticed that it briefly gets direct sun for about 20 minutes just before sunset. Yet this is the same leaf and pseudobulb forming a new rhizome. I'm still not seeing any new root growth (may be hidden) or leaf growth. So I'm still letting it teach me what it wants. It's getting Captan every 2 weeks, as are all my plants. I'm still thinking about (very slowly, apparently) putting a time release fertilizer sleeve on it.
