Default Getting a new NOID Cattleya

My daughter was visiting an orchid store near her and found they were closing their storefront and had many orchids on sale. She called me and I asked her to pick some up for me. One of them was a freebie little Cattleya in a 3" pot. I have seen a picture of it so far... its pretty small and she said thirsty. I'll get it in a few days. What should I look for to see possible problems? How will I know if it needs repotting? What care in general should I look to give it?

I won't know anything about its flowers unless I can get it to grow well and in bloom, but its supposed to be yellow or orange or red. I don't mind, it was free!

I do have a Cattleya start from my DIL's plant, its not big, but is really starting to grow well for me under my lights, so I hope I have decent conditions to bring this little guy around. When it gets home I'll take pictures for you all.

Thanks for any ideas you have to share with me!

I'm hoping to pick up my orchids in a couple of days - getting excited! I'll try to get pictures of each of them for "before" and to get advice.

Well, I finally got pictures today, sorry for the delay. I've lots of excuses, but you know how it is! My tiny little friend has actually grown for me already. It had what looked like a blackened start of a new pseudo-bulb, which started to grow and has about 1/2" of new green growth! Also there is a tiny back bud that is growing nicely off one of the old pseudo-bulbs. I'm very happy with that.
