    Default Sedirea japonica growing mix?

Just received Sedirea japonica which will be grown under artificial light. Just wondering what is the best growing medium. I see a lot of pictures in which it appears to be grown like neofinetia. Can anyone give me some ideas?

I'm not sure where you live, so keep in mind I am in humid hot Florida and I keep my plants a bit different than alot of others. I recently found a "fir bark mulch"...it was going into a front yard area...and I helped myself to a bucket of it. When everything I planted in it began growing like crazy, my sedirea japonica went into a basket with the mulch as well. So far I have amazing new roots and it seems very happy. I will attach a picture of mine.

I know it likes to dry out so a good free draining mix should be good. I just got my S. japonica a couple weeks ago. It has bark like chips and a little bit of red lava rock. I don't plan on repotting til my blooms fall

I live in New Orleans, but plan on growing under artificial lights. When I received the plant it was poorly planted with no support of the roots. Would consider using bark chips but have no idea where I would get it. Do you think growing in sphagnum moss like I see in some videos would be too moist? I am really concerned I might mess up.

Hi moniluhum, Sederia japonica has been reclassified as Phalaenopsis japonica. Therefore, if you are successful in growing other Phals, you'll be fine growing this plant. I have a couple of these plants and I pot them up like Neofineta--in high mounds. But as was pictured earlier, you can put them in any media, in any style pot that fits your growing conditions.

Treat this orchid like you would any of your other phal orchids. The orchid medium mostly is determined by your watering habits.

    cheers,
