So I had decided to separate the new pseudobulb and make a separate plant. It took till this summer to finally prove itself. Wow what a pretty flower. Orange tiger in the sun and deep red in the shade. Very pleased !

I was given an Onc. sphacelatum several years ago that grows and multiplies like a weed, producing 3- to 6-foot spikes. It has the same habit of growing out of its pot - once the weight of the new growths threaten to pull the entire plant out. I use the opportunity to divide and repot. I find this keeps the plant under control and provides me with "gifts" to hand out to other unsuspecting orchid growers. Without knowing just how fast your Oncidium grows, I suspect it too may climb too quickly to keep on a mount for very long. My inclination would be to suggest you wait until after the mature growths bloom. Good luck!
