The strap-leaved Vandas are grown under 50% shade cloth in Thailand , where an enormous number are raised. Semi-terete and terete need much more so I believe, so much so that they are not sold in UK. But the strap-leaved ones grow well here. BTW I reckon that cattleyas need at least 50% more light, if that is any help.
