I dont know how many flowers at all, but I love miniatures as well. I am playing seriously with making an orchid / other interesting mini plant terrarium... some mounted and some planted.... certainly want to try a Ghost orchid... :c)

I've never heard of Ghost Orchids. Do you have a pic or link to a pic?

REALLY?! I found the Ghost Orchid plant on ________ in it's own terrarium and I was SO tempted to buy it but thought it's too expensive to buy myself and will ask for it for a gift... I started researching it and found it inexpensively on another site and plan to buy one when I am ready for the terrarium building myself...

Tindomul1of9 - I can't really do links because they all seem to come from specific people and I think it's against the rules... but you can google it and find LOTS of info on it. It's really neat reading!

I can only say, caveat emptor!

I may be a pessimist, but I'd suspect a ghost orchid on e-Bay is either a hoax or illegally collected.

In my reading, I found that out sort of - and found a place that is recommended in lots of chats from people very careful about where they get them. It's the most mentioned place in forums and message boards like this - so I *think* it's a safe place to get it... AND the price is way better! I'm pretty sure when I decide to go - it will be to this place...

Just reading the book. Feel like I'm there! We will be heading that way (Myakka and Fakahatchee) soon. How did the ghost orchid hunt turn out in this thread? Anybody?

The history or orchid collection as told in the book is riveting. How do ya'll perceive the book? Is it truth with poetic license (refering to the history) or right on the money? Either way, it's a great book!

I think you'll get a total of 4 flowers. Be sure to post pictures of the little beauties.

I did post pics. I got many flowers. Infact I had to cut the spikes of to stop it. I was afraid the plant would bloom itself to death. And it worked. As soon as I cut the spikes off, the plant went into growing leaves and roots mode. But then I found a new spike yesterday! I guess its really determined to flower. I'll see if I can't find that post with the little guy in flower.
